IDG’s CMO magazine received an award for design at the
Society of Publication Designers 40th Annual Magazine Design
Competition in New York City last week. CMO
magazine was honored for its design of a story entitled Out
and About, and published in its November 2004 issue. The design
was conceived and executed by Scott Shultz, associate art
director for CXO Media, and freelance photographer Peter Murphy.
The Society of Publication Designers is
a driving force for quality and innovation in publication
design and is comprised of top editorial art directors and
allied professionals.

from this distinguished organization in the magazine’s

last September, we’ve challenged ourselves to create
design that reflects the energy of our creative and corporate

CMO magazine, the only monthly magazine
dedicated to the nation's chief marketing officers, competed
against 7,000 entries in more than one hundred categories
ranging from cover design to interactive media.
Now in its fortieth year, the SPD’s
Annual Magazine Design Competition showcases examples of design
excellence to editors, art directors, designers, photographers
and typographers worldwide.
The 40th Annual Magazine Design Competition
culminates with the publication of an annual compendium of
top editorial design. CMO magazine’s merit award will
be featured in the Society's publication design annual, PUB
40, and at the SPD's 40th Annual Exhibition.
Launched in 2004, CMO magazine and its companion website (www.CMOmagazine.com)
provide chief marketing officers (CMOs) with "high-level,
strategic information to better manage and integrate the marketing
profession’s diverse portfolio of disciplines."
